If you’ve never used fireworks before, there are a few key safety tips that you should keep in mind to avoid injuring yourself, someone else, or the surrounding environment. We strongly encourage you to review these guidelines before buying and using fireworks:
- Keep spectators several feet away. Only one person should be allowed to light fireworks, and only one device should be lit at a time to minimize the risk of injury. Spectators should stand at least 35 feet away for their own safety.
- Light fireworks on a flat, level surface away from dry brush or buildings. It’s also wise to have plenty of water on hand in case something is accidentally set on fire.
- Don’t pick up fireworks that failed to ignite. Wait several minutes before touching a firework that failed to light or fully explode.
